What Can I Do With an E-Commerce Degree?

With the world increasingly connected by the Web, a degree in e-commerce is a great asset in the business field and opens up doors to a variety of careers. Graduates may find work in creative endeavors such as copywriting and Web design or in more business-oriented ventures such as online marketing and sales. Earning an e-commerce degree requires students to learn a lot about working online, so graduates who have a special interest in the technological aspects of the work will likely find plentiful opportunities as programmers, database managers and webmasters. The possibilities for using this degree are numerous and should increase in the coming decades.

What Is the Career Outlook for E-Commerce Degree Students?

It's hard to do business these days without an Internet presence, and as more companies look to professionals to build websites, manage online sales and create Web marketing, positions in e-commerce should increase well into the next decade. Graduates who choose to work on a freelance basis may see lulls and peaks in their income, but overall e-commerce should remain a fairly stable field. Incomes from e-commerce work can be fairly varied, as Internet copywriters make on average about $43,000 a year while webmasters can expect to bring in about $70,000.
