What Will I Learn in a Marketing Degree Program?
As a marketing student, you'll gain the skills necessary to communicate with consumers and provide the right products and services at the right time to the right audience to maximize profits. Students in a marketing degree program can expect to take classes on topics such as consumer behavior, strategic planning, market research, consumer relations, advertising and finance. Additional course work in such areas as technology, business law, mathematics and media can also be beneficial. Graduates of a marketing degree program should be familiar with both the technical and the creative aspects of the work.
What Can I Do With a Marketing Degree?
There are a wide range of careers available to those with marketing degrees, both undergraduate and graduate. Most students with a marketing degree go on to work in businesses doing marketing and advertising and perhaps eventually becoming managers of an entire marketing department. Some graduates will want to specialize in areas such as online marketing, manufacturing or agriculture. Additionally, many find work doing market research and branding, both essential components of a strong market presence. Those who are more engaged with the creative aspects of marketing may find that they fit in best in advertising departments dedicated to generating promotional materials, a popular career choice among marketing graduates.
What Is the Career Outlook for Marketing Degree Students?
Marketing is an attractive field and thus sees a lot of competition. Students who hope to work at top businesses and desire management positions will need strong resumes. Over the next 10 years, this field is expected to see job growth of 13 percent, making it a fairly good choice for a stable career.
