Why did you decide to pursue a career as a teacher?
I decided to pursue a career as an educator because I initially had a strong interest in coaching youth athletics. However, after working in public schools throughout my internship and first year of teaching I realized that I really enjoyed being in the classroom more than coaching on the football field. I found great enjoyment in working with students to achieve their goals.

I went through a traditional four-year undergraduate program in which I focused on health and physical education as well as classes that focused on educational strategies and philosophies. What do you do on a typical workday?
I start out my day with a one hour prep period that allows me to prepare for the day, then I have five straight classes in which I prepare class lectures and activities for my students. Then I finish my day with an hour of cross country practice.
Do you plan to advance to another position within your career field?
I hope to one day be an educational administrator in a public system.
What type of person do you think is best suited for a job in your field?
