Paralegal Student – Allison Fisher
About Allison
Allison Fisher had always found law interesting, but knew she couldn’t afford law school. She worked full-time, while taking some community college classes, but found they were too time-consuming and decided to quit. After one year off from school, Allison is ready to get back in the saddle and try her hand at school again. This time she is following her interest for law and after talking to a counselor online she was able to find an associate of arts degree in paralegal studies with completely Web-based classes.
This program prepares students to help attorneys through legal research, drafting documents, case management, gathering evidence and assisting in other duties. The objective of this paralegal program is to develop written and verbal skills for critical thinking and communication, instruct students inanalytical and technical skills, as well as a provide a well-rounded understanding of legal practices in the U.S.
She is required to complete 60 credit hours during the 20-month long program. The curriculum is broken up into four classes per semester for four months, with one class per month. Without financial aid, Allison will pay about $6,688 per semester. Allison is going to apply for financial aid and she may be eligible for Pell grants as well as other scholarships.
As a paralegal, Allison will be prepared to aid lawyers in both civil and criminal practices in firms, businesses and corporations. She is grateful for the flexibility and affordability of online education, which will bring her closer to law
